Ambiance
The moment one stumbles into the cafeteria of Marietta High School, it's obvious lunch will not be peaceful or carefree. One will be pushed, shoved, and yelled over. People are rude and cut in front of others in line and litter where they please. The atmosphere is unfriendly and piercingly loud.

Cleanliness
One notices immediately after walking into the dining hall that it is not a very clean and tidy place. Trash such as shredded trays, milk jugs, and old crusty food litters the floor. Gum is plastered to the walls and underneath lunch tables, making one afraid to touch any surface. The women serving food have straying hairs from their hair net swaying over one’s food as well as dirty hands handling one’s food. The lack of cleanliness leads to an uncomfortable dining experience.

Food Quality
The smell introduces one to his or her first impression of the food. In my opinion, the food smells horrific. After experiencing the scent, one would not be in his or her right mind if they did not want to run away and escape the smell. Then one catches a glimpse of the food and sees this is no improvement. The food looks old, of the wrong consistency, and nearly always overcooked or undercooked. The taste of the food proves these observations true. The food is dry with age and tastes like mysterious ingredients are figured into the dish that one would rather not know about. The food quality was greatly disappointing.

Service
As soon as one enters the food line, he or she notices that the ladies serving food are already irascible. The women speak politely, but in quick, sharp, and short phrases. The lady who handles the money never makes eye contact and is just as abrupt in her speech. The service was polite for the most part, but strained.

Presentation
Watching the food make its way to one’s tray had a way of making stomachs churn. The women would take a scoopful of food and plop it onto one’s tray. The food would stay in the exact shape of the scoop, as if like stone. One does not want to see that and the sight makes one slightly less hungry.

The Marietta High School cafeteria is not somewhere I recommend anyone to go to at any time. It lacks any positive qualities to make it a place worth coming to.
Ha! This is something that seems to be the same across the nation. My high school was the same way. C'est la vie.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way. I don't go to Marietta, but the food at my high school is always so gross that bringing one's own lunch seems to be the best solution.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel... Warren High School lunches are just as bad as these.... they give you little to nothing, and over charge you for everything... I always hated school lunch, and always packed my lunch when i could.
