Golden Plaza: The Character of a Local Bar and Restaurant

The Golden Plaza
Belle Valley, Ohio

Ambiance:
The bar itself is more than 40 years old and makes for a perfect country theme.  There is camouflage wallpaper, deer murals and beer advertisements’ coating the walls inside. A rustic feel is noticeable due to the old, worn down oak tables and chairs. There is also a minuscule smell of cigarette smoke still lingering from before the tobacco ban came in to affect. Country music always seems to be playing continuously as well. It is definitely a country bar and it has very unique atmosphere.

Cleanliness:
The state of cleanliness in the bar is a pleasant surprise given the condition of the building and its location. The establishment meets and exceeds the demands of the local health department and my mom. The men’s bathroom door has no lock and it is not uncommon to have someone enter before you have finished, but again, the bathroom of the restaurant is meticulously clean. Even though the outside of the bar is not brand new and in prime condition, the inside is very clean.

Food Quality:
When my family moved to this area 14 years ago, the Plaza was the first and only restaurant that was recommended to us and has been a monthly engagement ever since. The smell of deep fried food being cooked in the kitchen is apparent even in the parking lot across the street. The kitchen uses old fashioned deep fryers to produced French fries that are unmatched by todays methods. I am thoroughly impressed with the food every time I go there.

Service:
For as long as I can remember, the staff has never seemed to change at the Golden Plaza. Their experience and friendliness is just another reason for the popularity of this place. There is no wait for refills, ketchup or extra napkins and you never feel rushed to finish your meal even though the line for seating may be out the door.

Presentation:
The food presentation is nothing fancy and is served on Styrofoam plates to make clean up quick and easy. The portions are extremely generous and the cooks worry about food quality and quantity and will visit your table to make sure they have achieved both.

It is a fantastic little bar that I highly recommend visiting. It is worth a 45 minute drive to experience it yourself.
